The British Lung Foundation is the only UK charity that funds research into all forms of lung disease. It is supported by a network of Breathe Easy Groups, which provide an opportunity for people with lung conditions, and those who care for them, to make friends with other sufferers. Through the annual Breathe Easy Week, the local group, Breathe Easy North Herts is trying to raise awareness of lung disease and promoting greater understanding of the problems is can cause. Two events are planned, on Saturday there is an awareness table outside the former Littlewoods shop where people can talk to members. On Tuesday the group is indebted to Tesco Superstore and the nursing staff of Lister Hospital who are co-operating to allow visitors to the store to take a spirometry test. They can be found near the pharmacy in the store. Any member of Breathe Easy North Herts available to help at either events should contact the group chairperson on 01438 365686.
