Police are hunting four burglars who kicked down the door of a Hitchin house – but fled when they were confronted by the brave occupant.
The break-in happened in Old Hale Way at 3.40pm on Tuesday as the four men tried to get into the address through the window.
They were unable to, so then gained entry by kicking in the front door before ransacking the property until they were disturbed.
They then ran from the scene before speeding off in a black Audi towards Bedford Road.
Three of the men are described as being white, aged about 18 and wearing baseball caps.
One was wearing a white puffer jacket, with another wearing a black puffer jacket. The third person had on a smart black jacket with police waiting to confirm the details of the fourth would-be thief.
Anyone with any information or who saw the burglary is asked to contact police on 101 quoting G1/17/18.
