BOXERS will be fighting for the lives of others in a prize match.

Four men, who all train at KJz Boxing Gym on Pixmore Avenue in Letchworth GC, will be in the ring to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Steve Roach, Steven Kinnersley, James Blows and Lee Pitman will be putting on their gloves at Grundy Park Leisure Centre in Cheshunt at 8pm on April 12 and all profits from the ticket sales will be donated to the cancer charity. There will also be an auction and a collection on the night.

Steven Kinnersley said: "We all train and box during our spare time and to do it and know we are making a difference to someone's life feels really good. "The support we have had from the public has been overwhelming and we hope to see a lot of local faces there on the night."

Carla Poole, from Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "People living with cancer need medical help, but as treatments improve and more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives, they also need practical, emotional and financial support. The money raised at the event will help fund the vital posts and services needed to help Macmillan reach their ambition of reaching everybody affected by cancer by the year 2010."

Tickets, which start from £30, are available from the KJz Boxing Gym on: 01462 681906.

To donate a prize for the auction, call the Macmillan fundraising team on: 01438 712012.
