Following the success of last season's 40th anniversary game, the bowls club continued the game between the men and ladies sections played last Sunday on a cold afternoon. Before the start of the game, the club held a spider competition for the National Handicap Bowlers Association which raised a total of £25. The winner of the spider was Phyl Hyde. The club had 36 members taking part in the anniversary game. The match was played as six triples and was close on four of the rinks, the men kept their grip on the cup with a 108 to 89 shot win. The ladies, however, had a winning rink and their team was Rosie Batcheldor, Margaret Gorringe and Brenda Ford as skip who won 29 - 6. The highest ranking men's rink was David Dodd, John Batcheldor and skip John King who won 31 - 8. Everybody had an enjoyable afternoon and the club wishes to thank Jean King and Mary Tompkins for providing the teas.
