Stevenage manager Graham Westley admits that he doesn’t yet know who will be his team’s new captain, despite the start of the season being just 10 days away.
A number of different players have worn the armband in pre-season, but Westley is adamant that this is no reason for concern.
He said: “At the moment I haven’t decided on a fixed captain, the lads are captaining themselves, there’s a lot of leadership there and I quite like it that way.
“I think the important thing is that you look at your team and you can’t tell who’s captain, the important thing is that the team is the captain, 11 leaders on the pitch.
“So to me it’s not a big deal really, I’m going to have to put the armband on somebody, maybe I’ll share it around all season, who knows, it hasn’t done us any harm so far.”
