BORO have snapped up Darius Charles from Ebbsfleet United.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Boro after impressing Boro boss Graham Westley in the clubs' numerous encounters over the last two seasons.

Because Charles is under 24 Boro will have to agree compensation with Ebbsfleet and if both sides are unable to agree an acceptable fee it will be decided by a tribunal.

Chairman Phil Wallace told the club's official website: "Graham has always liked Darius and we tried to buy him twice last season but couldn't agree a fee. Graham believes he will add a lot to the squad as he is an outstanding player in several positions."

There's more good news for Boro fans with the record breaking back five signing new two-year deals with the club.

Chris Day, Ronnie Henry, Jon Ashton, skipper Mark Roberts and Scott Laird have all signed on the dotted line to extend their stay at the club.
