STEVENAGE Boro goalkeeping coach Lionel Perez was due to appear in court today (Thursday) charged with common assault.

Perez, 38, whose address has been given by police as Peronwn Street, Cambridge, has been on bail for more than a month following his arrest for an incident during Boro's FA Cup second round clash with Northampton Town at Broadhall Way on December 3.

The Frenchman was involved in an off-the-field altercation with Northampton coach Dave Watson.

Last Friday, Perez returned to Stevenage Police Station under his bail conditions where he was charged with assault by beating and will answer the charge before Stevenage magistrates today.
