Boomerang travellers ordered off land

A group of travellers have been moved on from a field in Hitchin after an eviction order was issued.

The travellers in a collection of around 15 caravans were given the order shortly after 1pm today (Monday) by police after pitching up in a farmer’s field opposite Kingshott School in Hitchin over the weekend.

A police spokesman said it is thought the travellers were part of a larger group which had been moved on from a nature reserve in Stevenage on Friday and escorted towards Bedfordshire.

This latest convoy was last seen heading towards Bedfordshire on the A600.
