A BODY discovered in a river has been identified as that of a missing Hitchin man.

Richard Duckett (pictured), 62, suffered from a heart condition and disappeared over a month ago from his family home in Redhill Road.

His body was found in the River Tyne, Newcastle, on Saturday and police say his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Mr Duckett's sister is believed to live in the same area, but there is no evidence to suggest he visited her before his death.

He was last seen by his wife on March 12 when he left home without his car or mobile phone.

Since his unexplained disappearance Mr Duckett made no contact with his friends or family.

Pc Andy Gorrell, from the eastern area missing persons unit, said: "This is a very sad case and our thoughts are with Richard's family at this difficult time.
