THE chairman of a Letchworth GC-based company has been given a prestigious lifetime achievement award.
Bob Wilson of Sound Technology Plc was given the award by the UK Music Industries Association at a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London.
The award honours Mr Wilson's outstanding contribution to the industry throughout his 35-year career.
After leaving London-based musical instrument distributor Rose Morris in the mid 70s Mr Wilson started his own distribution company, which today is recognised as one of the largest and most successful in the industry.
During his career he has also helped to develop international distribution operations for a number of US-based companies and has regularly chaired the highly successful British Music Fair trade exhibition.
Mr Wilson said: "This really is an incredible and humbling experience to be honoured by the industry in this way."
The Music Industries Association (MIA) represents all parts of the UK musical instrument industry from local music stores to major multi-national companies and brands.
