A prolific thief from Biggleswade who launched another stealing spree despite the threat of prison has been jailed for 16 weeks.

Victoria Darling, of Rose Lane, admitted three counts of theft at Hatfield Remand Court after stealing from TK Maxx, Next and Claire’s Accessories in Stevenage on Wednesday last week.

The 48-year-old had just two weeks earlier received a long list of suspended jail sentences from magistrates after being convicted of 11 counts of theft and two more of attempted theft.

Those offences were committed from April 25 to September 4 this year in Biggleswade, Hitchin and Stevenage.

The bench, chaired by Natasha Hurst, sentenced Darling to four weeks behind bars for the Stevenage theft spree on September 20 – adding another 12 weeks in place of the suspended sentences to make a total 16-week term. Darling must also pay £115 surcharge.
