Eight-year-old Sophia Tailor, who attends St Andrew’s Church of England VC Lower School in Brunts Lane, is the leading lady in Kinder’s new Christmas TV advertisement, ‘Open the Magic of Kinder’.

The advert sees Sophia opening the front door to find a unicorn outside, representing Kinder’s vision of a child’s imagination.

Sophia also had an acting role in Tim Burton’s 2016 film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, in which she played the little girl.

Sophia’s mum Oxana told the Comet: “A couple of years ago someone I know from Facebook wanted to sign her up for quite an up-market modelling agency in London after seeing some of my pictures of her on social media.

“She’s had a couple of jobs since then. She was chosen for the Kinder advert out of hundreds of children. It’s quite amazing, we didn’t expect it.

“Sophia is really quite humble about it, she doesn’t tell many people and doesn’t talk about it at school, but I’m really excited about it.

“Her older brother Damien is very excited, she gets quite embarrassed when people talk about it, but he tells all his friends at school.

“It just happened really. She got found by Kids London Modelling agency and she got into it from there.”

In addition to being the star of the Kinder chocolate advert, modelling and featuring in a Tesco commercial, Sophia also loves animals and in the past has given her birthday money to the Rehoming Animals Telephone Service.

Her mum said when Sophia gets paid she will probably give some of her money to the charity.

“I think when she grows up she might like to work with animals,” Oxana added. “As long as she’s getting modelling and acting jobs and is still enjoying it then she can continue doing it. She’s been very successful and has a booking for a fashion show in January.”

Sophia’s appearance in the Kinder ad can be seen on on Kinder’s YouTube stream and various TV channels.
