Saw the start on July 1 of a new Lionistic Year with Judith Hagger taking over the Presidency from Roger Wolburn. Roger's year was a great success, seeing a wonderful concert performed by the London Welsh Male Voice Choir at Stevenage, a trip out for families to Wicksteed, nine sleigh runs and many more community events attended and supported by Biggleswade Sandy Lions. Lion Judith says that she hopes that her year is every bit as successful as Roger's and that members continue to have great fun and enjoyments in all that the Lions undertake this year. You will see the Lions in Biggleswade Market on August 5 with our book and jigsaw stall, followed by St John's Moggerhanger on August 13, where the Lions will do the refreshments at the annual fete. September 15-17 will see the Lions at the main gate again at the Steam Fayre at Shuttleworth. Lions introduced the white cane for the blind many years ago, now a Dutch-German-Belgian Lions Club is working on the I-cane which has in built technology to provide new ways of orientation, obstacle detection and information giving - it will even memorise your shopping list. For information about the Lions ring Roger Wolburn on 01462 814967.
