A motorist who tragically died when his car hit a tree between Potton and Gamlingay has today been named by police.

Luke Emery, 24, of Maunder Road in Biggleswade, died when his Renault Scenic collided with the tree on the B1040 Gamlingay Road, north-east of Potton, at about 2.40pm on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A four-year-old boy was treated for minor injuries and taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

PC John Blood, who is investigating, said today: “It’s ’s always tragic when someone loses their life on the county’s roads and our thoughts are with Mr Emery’s family at this time.

“We would urge anyone with information which could help us piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident to get in touch.”
