Multiple fire crews are at the scene of a field blaze on the edge of Biggleswade this afternoon.

At about 4.15pm, Beds Fire and Rescue service tweeted: “Crews from Sandy, Potton, Shefford, Toddington, Kempston and Harrold are currently in attendance at a field fire in Potton Road, Biggleswade.

“14 hectres of standing crop involved, steady progress being made to extinguish the fire #heatwave #fieldfire #bedsfire #fireaware.”

The Comet understands roads around the area are not affected.
