A 26-year-old builder accused of glassing a man at a busy Hitchin town centre bar is set for a crown court sentencing next month.

Luke Kiteley, of Havelock Road in Biggleswade, indicated a plea of guilty when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates on Friday. He is charged with grievous bodily harm and assault following the incident at Osinsky’s in Market Place on May 2.

Kiteley, formerly of Hoddesdon, is also charged with failing to appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court in answer to bail on Monday last week.

He has been released on conditional bail to appear at Cambridge Crown Court for sentencing on August 19.
