OLD bold pilot Biggles, complete with handlebar moustache, leather helmet and jacket, goggles and scarf, was flying low in his cut down Spitfire when he almost bumped into cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron.
He entertained the youngsters with his chat about chocks away and toodle pip at the Shuttleworth Military Air Pageant, Old Warden Aerodrome, on Sunday.
It was the hottest day of the year and the good weather drew in large numbers of air enthusiasts from all over the country.
As well as viewing the air display, which included a special fly-past by a Lancaster, the cadets, along with staff and civilian committee members, teamed up to run a recruiting display and tombola at the event.
