Bunyan Baptist Church, on Basils Road in Stevenage, held its seventh annual Big Church Big Lunch event in glorious sunshine on Letchmore Road Playing Field in the Old Town.

More than 300 people joined in, setting out picnic blankets and sun umbrellas and enjoying their food and the free cakes, fruit and drinks on offer.

For children, there was a bouncy castle, face painting and games including hook-a-duck and a coconut shy.

Teenagers had a designated youth den, with table football and a chillout area, and everyone was invited to take part in family games such as tug-of-war and quick cricket.

Administrator Nicola Endersby said: “Big Church Big Lunch is only one of the many events Bunyan Baptist Church hosts every year, all completely free, as a way to get to know the community.”
