Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit are targeting motorists who pose the greatest risk on the roads.

The unit has dealt with 46 incidents in the past three months including vehicles with no insurance, drink and drug drivers and dangerous drivers, with serious offences such as these the main focus of the crack down.

Inspector Chris Huggins from the road policing unit said: “We are committed to making our roads safer for everyone and a big part of this is ensuring those who pose a serious risk to themselves and innocent road users are taken off the roads.

“Whether through dangerous driving, drink and drug driving or driving whilst disqualified, we will not tolerate those who put others at risk.”

The operation codenamed Dragoon will use police intelligence, marked and unmarked vehicles and ANPR cameras to make roads in Beds, Cambs and Herts safer.

Officers will be tweeting using the hashtag #OpDragoon. You can follow them on Twitter @roadpoliceBCH.
