Members of the Three Parishes Barn Owl Steering Group lead a guided walk around Ickleford Barn Owl territory this Sunday, leaving from the Plume of Feathers at 10am and returning at noon. Those wishing to take refreshments on return are welcome to leave their cars in the Plume car park while we walk. Otherwise, park in Chambers Lane on the side opposite the Plume. The walk takes us through 5.5km (3.5 miles) of lanes, common land and farmland paths. Kissing gates have replaced all stiles on the route. We should see a range of birds and flora and we may meet grazing cattle. If you are under 16, you need to be accompanied by an elder. Dogs can accompany you provided they are quiet, are on a short lead and you have a poop-scoop/bags. Note: Canine parvovirus is present. Unvaccinated dogs come at the owner's risk. In addition to learning about the barn owl, hear about what is being done in Holwell, Ickleford and Pirton to conserve this species and its habitat.
