A 25-year-old man from Baldock has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman in the town while drunk.

Daniel Hand, of Weston Way, was sentenced to 17 weeks behind bars when he appeared before St Albans magistrates on Monday, with the offence described in court as an ‘unprovoked and unwanted assault’.

Hand was previously handed a 20-week sentence in March this year after being convicted of a similar offence – for which he was placed on the sex offenders register for seven years – and assaulting a police officer.
