Annual Show this year, two researchers from the BBC were present and they invited some of the winners to Wimpole Hall where filming was to take place for the BBC series The National Village Show. Awards for the show were presented by the Hon Mrs June Fordham. Award Winners as follows: George Berry Shield for overall winner - Margaret Bryant. RHS Banksian Medal for most points - Margaret Bryant. Engine Medal for best exhibit - Ian Symington. Dr John Moynihan Cup for best pot plant - Ian Symington. David Billson Cup for best flowers and shrubs - Keith Thompson. Garden News Top Vase (flowers) 1st Jeremy Fordham, 2nd Margaret Bryant, 3rd Sue Hill. Stan Bryant Cup for floral art - Sarah Talks. The WI Plate for the most points in the Domestic Section - Di Shuttlewood. John ten Hove Memorial Cup for Preserves - Di Shuttlewood. Mr W H Wallace Cup for Vegetables - Margaret Bryant. Garden News Top Tray vegetables - 1st Margaret Bryant, 2nd Fergus Moynihan, 3rd Keith Thompson. Youth Club Cup for Fruit - Tony Francis and Annie and Tony Coe. EE Centre Trophy for Handicrafts - Sarah Talks John Fraser Memorial Cup for Art - Janet Coldstream and Judy King. Geoff Cook Memorial Cup for Photography - Allan Budgen. Walpole Cup for under 7 years old - Cieran Gill. Youth Club Junior Cup for 7 - 11 years - Alfie Talks. Norman Gurney Cup for 12 - 14 years - Isobel Talks. June Fordham Children's cup for best mounted photograph - Alfie Talks Awards were also given to the following whose entries had been judged before the show: Ken Bishop Memorial Cup for best handing basket - Eileen ten Hove. The Ashwell Cup for best container - Anne Colquhoun. Fothergill Seed Cup for the tallest Sunflower (adult) - Michael White (child) Max Hill. Congratulations to the overall winner of the show. Margaret Bryant is the first woman member to win this accolade.
