A MAJOR investigation has been launched into an allegation made by a woman that she was assaulted.
The incident is said to have happened in the early hours of today (Tuesday).
Herts Police has cordoned off three areas - two in Stevenage and one in Letchworth GC.
The areas in Stevenage include the area outside The Gate Hotel in Ditchmore Lane and the underpass near to Martins Way. The Letchworth GC site has not been named by police.
Scene of crime officers are undertaking fingertip searches of the areas.
A Herts police spokesman said: "We are investigating a report of an assault on a young woman.
