Defender cuts part of thumb off during freak gym accident
JON Ashton is a doubt for Stevenage’s FA Cup Third Round match against Newcastle United this weekend.
The defender needed an operation after a freak gym session accident last week saw him slice part of his thumb off which then required stitching back on.
The incident saw him miss Stevenage’s two games over the weekend.
Ashton has been one of Boro’s standout performers this season and has played 16 times in the league, scoring once.
