A 16-year-old who knocked on hundreds of doors in Hitchin and asked for money to save a youth club has been given a two-year ASBO.
Shane Nightingale from York Road, Stevenage collected hundreds of pounds from sympathetic residents who believed his claim that the money would go towards keeping the club open. He is banned from "approaching or contacting any person other than family members to make a request for money or sponsorship, either in person or via telephone". Pc Julie-Ann Cundell, North Herts ASBO officer, said: "This is a clear message that the police, working with the Crown Prosecution Service, will use all the tools at their disposal to tackle criminal and anti-social behaviour.
