POLICE are treating two fires at a house in Letchworth GC in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning as arson.

The house in Bursland was first set light to at around 1.30am.

Two fire crews from Baldock Fire Station attended, and station commander Ian MacKenzie said that they believe some sort of accelerant had been thrown at the building before being ignited.

The fire was judged to be arson and the police were called.

Mr Mackenzie said that while police officers were still inside the house another accelerant was thrown and another fire ignited.

The fire service was called for a second time at 4am and dealt with the blaze.

No one was hurt in either fire.

Police are investigating the incidents and are appealing for witnesses.
