Premier League giants Arsenal may have seen their seven-game winning streak come to an end in the disappointing 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday – but for a five-year-old fan from Hitchin it turned out to be the best birthday treat ever!

Football fan Stephen Livings got front row tickets in the Family Enclosure for him and his son John at The Emirates as a birthday treat.

But if that wasn’t enough the St Andrew’s School reception pupil was then picked out at half-time to take penalties on the hallowed turf against the club’s mascot Gunnersaurus.

Proud dad Stephen said: “John had a great time and he was buzzing for the rest of the day. He took three penalties and scored all three.”

Referring to our Comet newspaper headline he added: “I never thought I’d see my son in the paper under the headline Arsenal’s hattrick hero!”
