A renowned female footballer paid a visit to a Henlow school to pass on her expertise last week.

Arsenal and England Ladies captain, Casey Stoney visited Henlow Church of England Academy for a day of team building, exercise, training and fun as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.

Headteacher Caren Earp said: “Henlow has participated in this programme for a few years now. Our head of PE, Lisa Carter began it, and this year it has been run by another of our PE staff, James Gully. Our pupils benefit greatly from the additional input, especially when it is being run by someone as high profile as Casey.

“We had 20 Year 7 and Year 8 pupils participating in the programme. The pupils have been delighted just to meet her, let alone learn from her.

“She is a great ambassador for women’s football.”
