A 48-year-old man remains in custody following an assault in Hitchin in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to reports of a man being assaulted near Poundland in Brand Street at 4.55am today, with the victim suffering a cut to the back of his head and a cut to his face.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, but has since been discharged.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody. Police believe that both parties knew each other.
