The Settlement has resuscitated the Armitage Lecture this year with a female Russian professor giving a lecture on life in Russia today. Professor Ludmilla Selezneva will talk fluently about Gorbachev, the fall of the Empire, the shock therapy of market reform and the rise of Putin, as well as surviving the collapse of the economy. The lecture takes place at the Nevells Road venue on Friday, April 28, at an entrance fee of £10 per person - inclusive of Russian food and vodka - go steady folks, that stuff is lethal. Ring The Settlement on 682828 for further information. I wonder if my Russian friend will be attending - he is a famous snooker player called 'Inoff.. the Red!'
