POLICE are investigating an armed robbery after staff at a newsagent were threatened last night (Thursday).

Two robbers entered the S & R newsagent in Lonsdale Road, Stevenage, at 7.20pm.

The two men threatened staff with an unknown object before making off with cash in the direction of Grace Way.

Police have described one of the men as black and wearing dark clothing, while the other is believed to be white and wearing grey clothing at the time.

Detective sergeant Stuart Murrell, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was an audacious robbery and we are determined to find those responsible. I would urge anyone who was in or around the Lonsdale Road or Grace Way area before or after the incident who may have seen these males or anything suspicious to get in touch with us immediately.”
