A man from Letchworth was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of being involved in Islamic-related terrorism.

Officers from the Met Police arrested the man, who is in his 20s, at a businesses address in the town at about 12.45pm.

He is suspected of being involved in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

Armed officers from the Met’s Specialist Firearms’ Command assisted its Counter Terrorism Command team – known as SO15 – carry out the arrest.

No shots were fired during the operation.

Two other men – one in his 20s and the other in his 30s – were arrested at two separate houses in Luton today on suspicion of the same offence.

Police are currently searching all three addresses.

The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism.

A spokesman for the Met said: “As this is an active investigation, we are not able to release any further information at this stage.”
