Past branch presidents Katie Juffs and June Hayes were there to help current president Bronwen Martin cut the cake – made by group member Maralene Greenhow.

Another member of the group, Arlesey artist Vanessa Stone, has marked the centenary by creating a cut-paper picture of the hall – which now appears on a plaque outside, as well as on linen bags.

Bronwen said the branch is doing well, with 40 members, but is always happy to welcome more to in to keep the group thriving and help maintain the hall for village use.

To group will be holding an open afternoon on Saturday, June 9, from 12 noon to 4.30pm – with its archive on show, and refreshments available.

“Women of Arlesey with hobbies or businesses are also being asked to celebrate themselves with a small display of what they do,” she said.

“Put the date in your diary and visit us – all welcome.”
