An Arlesey takeaway owner is celebrating after more than 200 customers voted his fish and chips the best in the county.
Dragan Marjanovic – whose shop Arlesey Fish and Chips won Best Chippy Chips in Bedfordshire – said his recipe for success is sticking to traditional cooking methods.
The 34-year-old, who originally hails from Serbia, said: “I’ve worked in London and Northamptonshire, yet I feel so at home here in Arlesey. Everyone is so friendly. People who come here say they are so happy with the food.
“I’ve been interested in cooking since I was a young boy. I would prepare delicious food for my mum when she came home from work.”
Dragan occasionally cooks traditional lightly spiced Serbian fish for customers to try as a special treat.
He said: “It’s very different, but some customers have tried it and love it.”
