Arlesey Town Council is to object to a plan to change a house in Lynton Avenue into a ground-floor funeral parlour.
At a meeting last night, councillors voted unanimously to object to the proposals put to Central Beds Council on the grounds of parking concerns, access, traffic caused by loading and deliveries, the planned “disproportionate” size and the lack of comment from Highways regarding the potential impact on surrounding roads.
The meeting saw about 20 residents turn out to express their concerns, with the town council met with requests that it meet Benedicts Funeral Directors and ask the firm to withdraw the planning application.
Councillor Mick Holloway suggested a chapel of rest could be built at Arlesey’s cemetery. This is set to be discussed at the next meeting.
