An intrepid team of teachers at Baldock’s Knights Templar School are growing Movember moustaches to help raise awareness of cancer.
The three amigos taking the challenge this year are head of business Dominic Vallier, language teacher Alex Pilgrim and physics head Joseph Grove.
Mr Vallier, who has had close family members affected by prostate cancer, has been taking part in Movember for eight years.
“Movember has a great positive impact getting people talking about cancer,” he told the Comet.
“Being teachers, we’re in an ideal situation to grow a ‘tache and get students asking about the reasons behind it, as well as raising money towards Movember.”
Last year 12 Knights Templar teachers took part in Movember – dubbing themselves the KTS Mo Bros – and raised almost £1,000.
Asked how this year’s moustaches were coming along so far, Mr Vallier said: “Early days, but there is a distinguished continental moustache – slim and stylish – a 19th-century one, and one allegedly looking like Wolverine. That is mine.
“I’ve had students asking if I’m trying to be Wolverine, and asking how they can donate as relatives of theirs have had it.”
If you’re interested in donating, the Mo Bros’ fundraising page is at moteam.co/kts-mo-bro-s.
