An appeal has been launched today to trace a couple who helped a young woman who was injured after being allegedly kicked and punched in Ashwell on Tuesday night.

Police are hoping to speak to a lady and her husband who picked up the woman – who was in her 20s – on the road towards Sandon from the A505 between 6.30pm and 7pm in their four-by-four car.

Investigating officer Det Con Ben Dixon said: “It is vital I trace this couple as they could have really important information which could assist the investigation.

“If this was you, can you please contact me.”

A 23-year-old man from Ashwell has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail pending further inquiries.
