An appeal has been launched to track down the driver of a Mercedes who drove dangerously and threatened another motorist while travelling down the A507 near Shefford on Christmas Eve.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the road rage incident, which officers say started when a man driving from Tesco Express in Shefford’s Ivel Road was cut up by a white Mercedes as he headed towards the A507 at about 3.50pm on Saturday, December 24.

Once on the A-road, the offender is said to have drove dangerously alongside the victim and used threatening gestures until both cars reached the Chicksands roundabout further down the A507.

The Mercedes driver is described as white and approximately 35 years old.

Sergeant Jennifer Flinn, who is investigating, said: “The offender behaved in a threatening and dangerous manner on a busy public road. There is no excuse for such behaviour and we are keen to speak with anyone who is able to identify the driver of the Mercedes believed to be a 65 registration plate.

“It was tremendously frightening incident for our victim and we believe that the other drivers might have witnessed the incident, as the offender was causing obstruction to others.”
