Organisers of Rhythms of the World (RotW) music festival are offering artists the opportunity to promote their work at this summer’s festival.

Returning to Hitchin Priory on August 2 and 3, three artists in residence will be chosen to create an original artwork in response to the atmosphere and ethos of the festival.

The team behind RotW is also creating a tent where artists can apply for a 90-minute set to demonstrate their own art practice or craft.

Visitors will be able to observe the work in progress of three larger pieces as they develop over the weekend, and enjoy the shorter demonstrations showcasing a variety of skills.

Those applying for the artist in residence role must include the following in their application: contact details (name, address, phone and email); a personal statement, which should include a brief introduction of you and your artwork, title and outline of your idea and how it relates to the festival; a description of the work and how the work will be created; approximate size and details of materials and an example of your current work, which can either be an image or a link to a website or Facebook page.

Those interested in the 90-minute ‘Open Make’ set also need to provide contact details, a personal statement, a description of the demonstration and what skills will be shown in the timeframe, as well as previous experience and an example of your current work with an image or link.

All work should be designed to be taken away at the end of the demonstration.

Entries should be submitted via email to cathy.smale@rotw.org.uk by Saturday, June 14, before a group of judges then determines the winners.
