A teenage girl in Letchworth has received unwanted attention from a topless motorist who demanded she take his phone number – and police have today appealed for witnesses.

On Sunday, at about 12.20pm, the girl was walking along Cowslip Hill when the man drove up in a silver car and asked her a series of personal questions, unsettling her.

The driver – described as a topless black man in his early 20s with two nipple piercings, wearing grey shorts with black Armani underwear on show – among other things repeatedly asked her to take his mobile phone number. The teenager refused and walked away.

It was the second time that the man had approached the girl in Cowslip Hill.

In a similar incident at about 12.30pm on May 26, he drove up while the girl was walking with her sister and asked them personal questions that made them feel uncomfortable.

PC Charlotte Boot, who is investigating, said: “We are keen to identify this man so that we can establish why he keeps approaching this teenage girl.”

Anyone who thinks they know who this man is, or who saw either of these incidents, should call Herts police on 101 and quote crime reference G2/17/1420.
