PROPOSED changes to boundaries for North Herts District Council wards are causing controversy.
Following the continued growth of population in the Graveley and Wymondley ward, the Boundary Committee wants to make changes to nearly all wards in Hitchin, Letchworth GC and Baldock.
It wants to combine Hoo, Offa and Hitchwood wards into one three-member ward, reduce the number of councillors for Letchworth Garden City East by one and give an additional councillor to Graveley and Wymondley.
The committee says that by changing boundaries it would create electorates of more equal size, therefore votes would have equal value.
But NHDC councillors have voted unanimously to oppose the changes.
They wanted to simply give Graveley and Wymondley ward another councillor.
