Boro reserves earned a creditable 2-1 victory against their Ipswich Town counterparts at Playford Road this afternoon.
Goals from Jerome Anderson and Calum Willock did the damage for Boro against a Town side skippered by Fulham loanee Moritz Volz.
Anderson opened the scoring four minutes before half time when transfer-listed midfielder John Martin crossed from the left for the striker to hammer home a vicious strike past Town 'keeper Ian McLoughlin.
Willock almost extended Boro's advantage just before the hour-mark with a point blank header that was well saved by McLoughlin but the former Peterborough man did not have to wait much longer for his goal.
Willock evaded the attentions of his marker in the 62nd minute to head home a cross from the left and it was game over from this point.
Bermudan international Reggie Lambe netted a late consolation but it was too little too mate for the Suffolk side.
