We are still looking for nominations for our Pride of Comet Country awards.
We want to hear all the inspirational things going on in our area.
Do you know someone who would qualify as Carer of the Year, Role Model of the Year, Parent in a Million, Young Achiever, Valiant Volunteer, Great and Green and Charity Champions?
If you can think of someone who fits any of the categories contact The Comet for an application pack.
Foley Adigun, 35, has been nominated as a valiant volunteer for his work as director of Letchworth-based Charity Rap-Aid.
Along with his project manager, he mentors young people in the community helping them with issues at home and school.
Ann Dixon, of Stevenage World Forum, nominated Foley, saying: "Each young person referred to the organisation is treated as individual and no matter how dormant their talent or skill or how low their self-esteem, Foley will always bring out the best in them.
"More often than not, funding is not available to continue working with individuals and organisations and in these cases Foley gives his and the organisation time for free.
"As well as working on music-based projects, Foley will often enthuse and motivate young people in achieving their potential and support them in developing their talents."
Rap-Aid was invited to give a drug awareness session to young mums' groups in Stevenage and North Herts. As a result the charity has given young mums in the area a voice in the community.
Ann said: "Often small groups have little or no funding to engage and develop their members.
"Without people like Foley Adigun or organisations like Rap-Aid the needs of many young people in the community would not be met. Foley believes that if you help one person to turn their life around, they in turn will help others."
