The town centre celebration of the town’s best edible or horticultural produce saw punters rush to the 60 stands which were cheerfully manned.

There was also palpable excitement over the garden city appearance of celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, who provided a unique cookery demonstration on the main stage.

Love Letchworth operations manager James Peachey said: “This year’s Food & Garden Festival was a real success. Feedback from the many people who attended has been outstanding.

“It was particularly great to hear the very positive remarks about Letchworth from those who haven’t visited us before.

“It took a lot of work from a great many people to bring it all together.

“The roll-call of people to thank would be too long to fit into the paper but I would like to express my appreciation to them all for their contributions, especially North Herts District Council and the businesses of Letchworth town centre whose backing and support was critical.
