Highways England has confirmed that all three lanes of the motorway are open, three hours after firefighters were called to the blaze between Junction 6 for Welwyn and Junction 4 for Hatfield.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.

Traffic had been backing up as a result of two of the lanes being closed, but is now easing.
