On Saturday at 8pm at Benslow Music Trust, Little Benslow Hills. Tickets £10/£7 concessions, free tickets for students when booked in advance, tickets available from 01462 459446 and on the door. The programme includes Mozart Quartet in G major, K387, Shostakovich Quartet No.10 and Ravel String Quartet. For over thirty years, the Alberni String Quartet has been one of Britain's most renowned quartets and concert tours have taken them to the USA, South America, the Caribbean, Australia, China, Finland and other countries. They played the UK premieres of Shostakovich's quartets No.9 and No.10, of which the latter will be performed in this concert, which put them at the centre of contemporary music-making in the 70's. Their interpretations of the great classics have also attracted praise and respect around the world. Their recordings of Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Brahms have been highly valued, and the Schubert C major Quintet was nominated for a Grammy Award.
