CHILDREN, mums, dads, and even some grannies and grandads got out their paint brushes to help brighten up their community. Residents from the Hertford Road area in Stevenage painted a colourful mural on the walls of the underpass by the community centre.

Helen Fordham, from Three Valleys Water which funded the event along with Stevenage Community Trust, said: "We are pleased to be able to make a difference to the local community, particularly in a project where both young and old can participate."
The community centre celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and organisers are planning an event where the children's garden area will be officially opened on Saturday, July 15.
Stevenage Community Trust raises funds to support charitable donations to groups and individuals in Stevenage and the surrounding area.
