SAFETY measures have finally been brought in to help drivers negotiate a sharp bend.

Archer Road in Stevenage now has an anti-skid surface and cats' eyes, warning signs, safety kerbs and safety fencing have been installed.

"We made the improvements in response to concerns raised by residents about the number of accidents caused by motorists losing control of their vehicles at this point," said county councillor Stuart Pile, executive member for transport and environment.

"Drivers should now have no problems in rounding the bend - provided they drive carefully and obey the rules of the road."

The safety improvements were jointly funded by money that Hertfordshire County Council makes available to the Stevenage highways joint member panel and Hertfordshire Highways local maintenance funds.
