A MAN who suffered serious head and chest injuries in a car crash eight days ago is "still very poorly".

The 21-year-old from Biggleswade was rushed to hospital after his Ford Granada came off a railway bridge and ended up in a field.

On the way it hit a telegraph pole and brought down power lines.

The crash happened in Cambridge Road, Langford, at around 4am on Wednesday last week.

The man, who has not been named by police, was trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters.

He was taken to Lister Hospital and then transferred to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. Now he has been transferred to St Bart's in the capital and undergone an operation.
