Was Golden and Ostler will team up to cover ABBA Gold, The Greatest Hits, in its entirety at The Anchor in Cambridge Road.

Guitarist Jared Checketts is excited to perform. He said: “The beauty of ABBA Gold is in its diversity. It feels as though they are telling a story as each song unravels.

“ABBA showcase each era of music in all its glory, and hopefully our own take on their classics won’t disappoint.”

The performance coincides with the ABBA announcing they will be releasing new music, although singer Joly Checketts calls it “a complete coincidence”.

Released in 1992, ABBA’s Greatest Hits album has sold more than 30 million copies across the world.

Ed Maitland-Smith, who will be playing keyboards at Saturday night’s show, said the album has been played on repeat as Was Golden and Ostler gear up for their performance,

“ABBA Gold is essentially a perfect compilation - everyone knows it, everyone owns it, but it took us really paying attention to it to realise just how great it is, beyond the popular appeal,” he said.

“We’ve all been listening to it non-stop now for about six months and it gets better and more profound with every listen - that, and it’s obviously laden with absolute bangers.”

Entry to the event which starts at 7pm is free. Search ABBA Golden - The Greatest Hits LIVE at The Anchor to find out more.
